About the desk

We are an independent, private trading desk operating predominantly in US financial markets. We keep our team small, collaborative, and focused entirely on the craft of trading: disciplined risk management, curiosity, and continuous refinement.

You won’t find layers of corporate bureaucracy, hollow buzzwords, or office politics here. We value a relaxed, collegial atmosphere where open discussion is encouraged, trial-and-error is treated as part of the process, and everyone works closely together with high accountability.

We are looking for a Portfolio Manager Assistant to work directly alongside the Portfolio Manager in our Sofia office - assisting with daily book operations, hunting for setups, managing counterparty relationships, and constantly exploring ways to make our desk run sharper.

What you’ll be doing

  • Idea Screening & Tracking: Identifying trading setups that fit the desk’s criteria, tracking them through execution, and logging how they unfold over time.
  • Daily Desk Operations: Assisting with live position monitoring, risk checks, order staging, and general portfolio maintenance.
  • Counterparty Communications: Communicating daily with our international brokers, execution desks, and clearing counterparties. Your written and spoken English needs to be confident, accurate, and effortless.
  • Iterative Process Improvement: Continually examining our day-to-day routines, watchlists, and research steps to find practical, incremental improvements to our overall edge.
  • Practical AI Utilization: AI is part of our daily environment. You will be actively using LLMs to solve problems, speed up information synthesis, and make your day-to-day workflow faster and more effective.

Who we’re looking for

  • You love the trial-and-error process: You are patient and genuinely enjoy iterative problem-solving. Trying an idea, seeing it fall short, adjusting parameters, and going through multiple rounds of testing to squeeze out a slight edge sounds engaging to you, not tedious.
  • Risk-first mindset: You understand that long-term survival in trading comes down to position sizing, managing downside, and emotional discipline - not reckless gambling or chasing hype.
  • Objective self-reviewer: You take honest ownership of mistakes. When something doesn’t work, your natural reaction is to pull up the data, figure out what went wrong, and adjust so it doesn’t happen again.
  • Comfortable with key platforms: Hands-on experience with TradingView. Familiarity with Bloomberg Terminal is a welcome plus, but not required.
  • Scrappy with tech: You don’t need a computer science degree, but if you know how to use LLMs to write scrappy Python scripts, tinker with PineScript, or automate repetitive tasks, you will love it here.
  • Derivatives knowledge (Plus): Basic understanding of options and/or futures is helpful, but if you don’t have it yet and learn quickly, we will teach you.

The working hours & lifestyle

  • The Schedule: Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 23:00 (Sofia local time), fully aligned with the US trading session.
  • The Lifestyle Perk: While evening hours aren’t ideal for everyone, they offer a great rhythm for night owls and independent routines.
    • Zero morning alarms and zero rush-hour traffic.
    • Your mornings and early afternoons are completely yours (gym, personal projects, hobbies, sleeping in).
    • You work live during peak US market hours when the most active and exciting moves happen.
  • Health & Wellness: Includes comprehensive Private Health Insurance and a Multisport card from day one.

Compensation & clear growth

Year 1 (Training & Onboarding)

€1,750 net / month. This year is dedicated to intensive, one-on-one desk training where you learn our strategies, risk frameworks, and execution mechanics.

Year 2 (Performance & Ownership)

  • Your base salary automatically increases by +10% (to €1,925 net / month).
  • You unlock 10% of the Net PnL generated on your approved trading ideas. There is no corporate goalpost-shifting: if your ideas generate clean, net profits, you share directly in the upside.

How to apply

Email office@ofmcapital.com with two things: your CV in English, and a short cover letter written in your own words. Putting the letter in the email body is fine - no separate attachment needed.

Write the cover letter as normal prose, not a numbered form. In it, cover these four things:

  1. Your market experience. What markets or instruments you follow or trade, and how you review your own decisions.
  2. Two recent trades. Walk through two trades you actually did. For each: the setup, the logic, how you sized and managed risk, what happened, and how you reviewed it afterwards. One that worked and one that didn’t is ideal.
  3. Something you iterated. A specific project, problem, or workflow you tested, tweaked, and ran through multiple rounds before it worked.
  4. How you use AI. Which LLMs you use most, where they fail you, and how you work around that.

If the letter reads like a generic template (AI-written or otherwise) that could have been sent to any desk, we will skip it. Write like yourself.
